A five-year-old child discovered a vulnerability in Xbox Live

Пятилетний мальчик обнаружил брешь в безопасности Xbox Live

Sometimes children are much smarter and more inventive than many adults. The American five-year-old boy, for example, discovered a vulnerability in the popular gaming service Xbox Live, for which he won an award from Microsoft.

According to the ABC news website, American boy Christopher von Hassel, in the absence of his parents, tried to access his father's game account on the Xbox One console, which, of course, was blocked with a password so that the little son would not get access to violent games. The password typed at random did not come up, and then Christopher simply hammered a few spaces and pressed Enter. A miracle happened - in view of a software flaw, a password consisting of spaces was checked and Christopher got full access to his father's account.

When the parents returned home, the little boy was already playing on the network in those games, from which adults so carefully tried to protect him. The father, who, by the way, worked in the field of computer security, asked his son how he bypassed the defense, after which he called Microsoft support service and described the problem to them.

The flaw in the Xbox Live security system was quickly corrected, and the young hacker was awarded a $ 50 prize, four Xbox games, and a one-year Xbox Live subscription as a token of appreciation for finding the loopholes. In addition, the boy’s name was added to the honorary list of Microsoft employees responsible for network security. That's how five-year-old Christopher became part of a giant corporation, and also helped protect someone else's Xbox Live accounts from invading unwanted guests.
