Sony: we have no plans for the release of PlayStation Vita TV in Europe and the USA

Frankly speaking, Sony surprised us all when, together with the updated PlayStation Vita portable console, she also presented a compact multimedia console that allows not only to play games designed for portable, but also to synchronize with full-fledged PlayStation home gaming consoles. Now, Sony has surprised us even more by announcing that it is actually not going to release a PlayStation Vita TV extender in the US and European markets.

Andrew House, president of Sony Computer Entertainment, made an official statement in which he pointed out that PlayStation Vita TV is aimed at those markets where there is not so much a leader who provides support for stiming technologies. Speaking of "those" markets, he meant the regions of Japan, China and South Korea.

The executive director believes that Vita TV’s capabilities are far from being limited to the usual addition of an HDMI port to a portable set-top box (PlayStation Vita itself doesn’t have such a port). In addition, the game multimedia console allows you to play games with the whole family.

In addition, House believes that the new Vita TV is more likely to settle in the Chinese market (there, we recall, any game console is illegal), since the device is not a full-blooded game console.
