Microsoft: Xbox One owners can play with Windows 8 users

Microsoft announced that the future owners of the Xbox One home gaming console will have some degree of opportunity to play some games along with the owners of personal computers running the Windows 8 operating system.

Phil Spencer, one of the main people responsible for the new generation of the console, told the game portal AusGamers that such an opportunity can really take place, but details of this will be communicated only after the release of the console itself.

“I, of course, cannot yet disclose the details, but I can say that this probability may appear. Despite the differences between running games for Windows and for consoles on the same Xbox 360, we already had similar experiments. Remember at least Shadow Run. Players with consoles could play against PC owners. ”

In general, Spencer wanted to say that the first attempts to bring PC players and Xbox 360 players together could hardly be called successful, but Microsoft is going to try its hand in this direction again and this time it is better prepared for this (x86 architecture, - ed. )

As good examples of how video games can use two or more platforms to deliver content to the player, Spencer also highlighted such game titles as Skills of the Shogun and Halo: Spartan Assault.

Recently, Microsoft also announced that it plans to release an SDK kit for the Xbox One, which will allow developers to use a keyboard and mouse kit with the console when it appears on the shelves.
