Crytek executives faced a wave of negative feedback from players about their new game. As it turned out during an interview with the management of Crytek, there are indeed serious flaws in the demo version:

When we arrived at the E3 exhibition, the combat system of the game was not yet fully completed. We concentrated more on the visual side of the project, but, to our great regret, the game made very contradictory impressions on the audience.

The combat system of the game is based on the popular mechanic QTE (Quick Time Events), when you need to press the buttons appearing on the screen in time for the main character to deal with his enemies. In the case of the demo version, these same QTEs were executed regardless of whether the person took part in the game process or just stood in front of the screen and did nothing. This has brought so many visitors to the exhibition in a stupor. After all, a game that passes itself without outside intervention is a very dubious pleasure.

The developers of the game, as they could, defended their offspring in numerous media outlets, explaining that they took this step in order to facilitate the gameplay for those players who have a bad reaction time. Like, if a person loses - he will be upset, and thanks to this system of safety, everyone will be satisfied in the end. This was done specifically for the exhibition, and in the final version of the game, of course, there will be no “autopilot”.

After some time, representatives of Crytek openly admitted that the demo version of the game for E3 was more like an interactive version of the film “300 Spartans”, in which you just need to press the right buttons in time. Since that time, the company's employees have greatly reworked the combat component, as well as many other elements of the gameplay.

We want players to feel the depth of our combat system. An important role here is sure to play and the presence of multiplayer.

On the other hand, the management of Crytek has been negatively criticized by Microsoft:

I do not want you to consider this a complaint from our side, but when you are dealing with the hardware of the next generation, you want to feel some kind of development that has occurred over the past seven years. Microsoft must rewrite most of its Xbox One code so that their console can adequately run the games we develop. So, now we are trying to work with them to solve these problems.
