Analysts: We are on the verge of the collapse of the game console market

Superdata

American analytical company Superdata believes that the console market is on the verge of its collapse. And the reason for that is his (market) glut. The company believes that the new generation of gaming consoles will not be as successful as the previous one, because according to research, among 79 percent of gamers around the world, on average, there are 2.6 prefixes each.

“Veterans of the gaming industry will surely remember the economic crisis of the gaming consoles market in 1983, when the store shelves were overflowing with various types of entertainment video consoles,” a Superdata statement quoted in the VG24 / 7 game portal said.

“Today the industry is coming to the same point. To date, the market offers the widest base of game consoles and games for the entire existence of this industry. And it is quite possible that buyers will simply not be able to add another regular game console to their apartments. ”

Another agency, GI International, notes that despite the fact that consoles are now more prone to multiplayer entertainment than they were before, the habits of the players change with the market. Now the interest for everyone is represented by “universal, multi-purpose platforms like PCs and mobile devices”.

In 2008, 42 percent of players used game consoles for digital entertainment, 37 percent relied on their home computers, and 5 percent chose mobile platforms.

At the same time, 51 percent of players choose PCs as the main gaming platform; 30 percent still consider that consoles are best suited for this activity; The mobile entertainment market has also grown - it is now chosen as the basis for 13 percent of all surveyed players. The data is based on the result of a March sample survey among 1105 players conducted by a commercial digital outsourcing company Digital River.
