Last time we managed to discuss the events preceding the announcement of next-generation consoles of game consoles, their iron stuffing, gamepads and motion-control systems. Today we have to discuss directly the games for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One, the services that Microsoft and Sony offer us, as well as other equally important issues.
Next generation games
Games for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One will cost as much as games for the previous generation of consoles. In our country, the price of a disc with a gaming novelty will be approximately equal to 2000-2500 rubles. All games will be simultaneously released in two versions: store sets on disks, as well as digital copies for uploading to the internal HDD console. It is necessary to note the fact that both consoles are now fully Regional Free, i.e. they can run the game, bought in any country in the world. This will please those players who prefer to order games in foreign online stores.
The starting lines of both consoles are quite impressive and contain both exclusive projects for each platform, and multiplatform games from the world's largest publishers. Since we are now witnessing a transition from one generation of game consoles to the next, many games will simultaneously appear on both the Xbox One / Playstation 4 and the Xbox 360 / Playstation 3. But for fairness, it’s worth noting that on new consoles the graphics will be much better than their predecessors. In addition, buying, for example, Assassins Creed 4 for PS3, you can download a version of the game for PS4, having paid only 10 dollars for it. Also, many will be interested to know that free-to-play games will be available on the PS4, which can be played for free (no additional fees). But the Xbox One cannot yet boast of such a policy, as users in any case will have to pay for the Xbox Live service in order to be able to play over the network even in free projects. The only exception is the Project Spark, which was developed by the internal studio Microsoft.

Killer Instinct is a continuation of the very popular arcade fighting game from the Rare studio in the 90s.

Project Spark is a kind of designer that allows players to independently create their own game, be it a platformer, RPG or a shooter.
Titanfall is a game from the creators of the Call of Duty series of shooters in which you can not only run light, but also sit at the helm of giant combat robots. The game is a temporary exclusive Xbox One, so after a while it should go on other platforms.
Quantum Break - a game from the studio Remedy, the authors of Max Payne and Alan Wake. Judging by the scraps of information available today, it will be a pilot project, erasing the line between television series and video games.
Halo 5 is a game without which there would be no Xbox game consoles. So far nothing is known about the project, and even the name is not final. The release of the game is likely to take place only a year or two after the launch of the console.

inFamous: Second Son is a continuation of the popular series of games about an ordinary person, who at one point gained superpowers. The game boasts incredible beauty graphics and a very detailed open world.
The Order: 1886 is a game whose events unfold in the scenery of Victorian England and the atmosphere of steampunk. The group of main characters will have to fight horrific monsters from the underworld, using unique types of weapons and special devices. By the way, all that is shown in the trailer is the real in-game graphics.
The Witness is an unfinished game from the creator of the once popular Braid puzzle.
War Thunder is a free online game from domestic developers of Gaijin Entertainment, in which you can sit at the helm of a combat aircraft from the Second World War and compete against other players. An interesting fact is that PS4 owners will be able to play online against PC-players. This cross-platform approach is rare in the video game world.
Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is a mysterious project from the creators of the game Dear Esther, about which so far little is known.
SOMA is a cybernetic horror from the developers who gave us the Amnesia games. In the game, we are likely to encounter machines that attempt to destroy humanity.
Rime is an amazingly beautiful game, visually reminiscent of ICO and Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker.
Shadow of the Beast is a remake of the popular 1989 game for the Amiga computer.
It should also be noted that at the moment for the Playstation 4, unannounced games are being developed by the numerous Sony internal studios:
Santa Monica Studio - the people who gave us the series of God of War, not so long ago hinted that they are working on something large-scale. To work on this game, they even attracted the author of God of War 2 and the screenwriter of the series Battlestar Galactica.
Quantic Dream - David Cage's studio that gave us Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, is currently working on a completely new game for PS4. So far nothing is known about this project. But not so long ago, Quantic Dream released a special technological demo The Sorcerer, which demonstrated an incredible level of graphics capabilities of the Playstation 4 in real time.
Media Molecule - The authors of Little Big Planet have been working on a new project for the PS4 for quite some time. They showed some of their technical developments even during the February presentation of Sony, but since then nothing has been heard from them.
Japan Studio - the people who gave us the ICO and Shadow of Colossus are currently preparing something interesting for us. According to them, several new games for PS4 are under development. Let me remind you that this studio, among other things, is developing the game The Last Guardian, which was supposed to be released on the Playstation 3, but it seems that it will be released only on PS4.
Naughty Dog - the authors Uncharted and The Last of Us also do not sit idle. I think that we will hear about their new games very soon. Many are waiting for the announcement of Uncharted 4 in December of this year as part of the Video Games Award or at the next E3 2014 exhibition.
Guerilla Games - the authors of the Killzone series not so long ago reported that they had started working on a completely new game that had nothing to do with their existing game series.
Multiplatform projects that will be released on both consoles on the day of the start of their sales:
Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag - pirate romance about piastres, rum and the seizure of other frigates. In my opinion, Ubisoft is a bit frequent with the release of the new series of assassins, but there is always an amateur for this genre.

Multi-platform games that will be released on new consoles over the next year or two:
Watchdogs is a game in which information technology is at the head of everything. You play as a hacker who does justice with the help of hacking security systems, security cameras, other people's smartphones and bank accounts. In general, this game was supposed to go on sale simultaneously with the consoles of the new generation, but the heads of the studio Ubisoft decided that the project needed additional polishing and transferred it to the spring of 2014.
Final Fantasy XV is a game that has been developed for several years. Initially, it was supposed to be an exclusive Playstation 3, but the developers could not realize all their plans on the weak hardware of the current generation of consoles. It was decided to transfer the project to the next generation and to improve it as much as possible. They turned out very convincingly, since the game looks really incredible.
Metal Gear Solid 5 is the next large-scale project of Japanese game designer Hideo Kojima. The game has improved almost everything: from gaming stealth mechanics to artistic production and significantly improved graphics component. MGS is a legendary series of stealth action games, each of which should never be missed.
The Crew is another Ubisoft project. The first open-world game about cars. Behind the development are the same people who gave the world a series of games Driver. The creators of the game claim that in order to drive a car from one end of the game world to another, you will need at least 90 minutes of real time.

Especially for these purposes, the Xbox One is not only equipped with HDMI output but also HDMI input.
Microsoft has secured support for the largest digital video content providers in the US and Europe (Netflix, Hulu Plus, etc.) so that users can pay for digital broadcasting directly from the Xbox One and enjoy their favorite movies and TV shows at any time. Of course, in Russia, these services will not appear immediately, but after some time. Microsoft also negotiates with major American television channels about the exclusive opportunity to broadcast certain series exclusively through its gaming console.
Playstation 4 will also provide its users with a wide variety of video and music content, both with the help of third-party vendors and with their own services like Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited. The fact that it has its own film studios and recording studios can greatly help Sony.
Both consoles are capable of playing video in 4K resolution (3840x2160), which is especially important in the run-up to 4K TVs entering the market. Of course, we are unlikely to see 4K games in this generation, as this is too much of a load on hardware, but what the hell is not joking.
Microsoft fully integrates the recently acquired Skype service into its gaming console, and will also allow the use of smartphones and tablets as auxiliary controllers in some games as part of the SmartGlass project. The same will offer its users and Sony - you can use any smartphone or tablet based on Android / iOS as an auxiliary tool for managing the console. For example: being on a visit, you can enter a video game online store under your account through a smartphone, buy a game that interests you there, and when you return home, the game will already be loaded, installed and ready to launch. Playstation 4 users, among other things, will be able to use the Playstation Vita pocket console to broadcast the game from the PS4 directly to it. It is very convenient if someone from the family needed a TV, and you need to finish an interesting game. They transferred the picture from the TV to Vita and continued to play as if nothing had happened.
By the way, now you don’t need to wait until the purchased game is fully loaded onto the console. You can start playing it after a few minutes, when the first percentages of the distribution of the game are downloaded. Welcome to the future!
Online and cloud services
Xbox Live service will retain all its former functionality. The system of "achievements" was refined: to the usual "achivka" will be added "special achievements", which can be obtained only in the framework of any events and actions. A reputation system was also introduced, thanks to which Xbox Live will sift out “cheaters”, those who like to insult other players and place these violators in special closed groups, where they will have to argue with each other. So, if a person insults other players during a network game, they will simply vote against him, and he will immediately be transferred to a network match with exactly the same rude ones as he himself.
PSN integrates completely and irreversibly with the Playstation Plus service, which allows users to download free video games, exclusive materials and participate in closed beta tests of games that have not yet been released every month. Not very good news for Playstation fans turned out to be the fact that playing on the network now only happens if you have a PS Plus subscription. But everything is not as bad as it seems. After all, thanks to PS Plus, you will receive a huge amount of game content for only 200 rubles per month. In addition, you can play without a paid subscription in free-to-play projects that will be available only on PS4.
With the acquisition of the Gaikai cloud service, Sony will be able to stream games from its previous consoles on the Playstation 4 in real time. Of course, this is not a full-fledged replacement of the “backward compatibility” function, but it’s better that way without any access to the classics.
Both consoles are now able to record gameplay in real time and publish it on social networks under your account on the fly. The Playstation 4 even has a separate ARM processor for this. Xbox One has a special video editor for video editing and interesting special effects. And thanks to the integration of the Playstation 4 with the Twitch service, now you can broadcast your game matches for everyone. Время покажет, насколько Microsoft были честны с нами.
Ценовая политика и даты релиза консолей
Ценник на Sony Playstation 4 был установлен следующий: 399 долларов / 399 евро / 349 фунтов / 17 990 рублей.
Начало продаж PS4 запланировано на 15 ноября на территории США. В Европе и России PS4 начнёт продаваться 29 ноября, а в Японии – 22 февраля 2014 года. Поздний запуск Playstation 4 на своей родине связан с тем, что Sony хочет максимально тщательно подготовить стартовую линейку для японских покупателей и качественно локализовать западные проекты для местных геймеров. Совсем недавно в Японии началось оформление предзаказов на PS4. Что удивительно, практически через полчаса все комплекты предзаказа были распроданы в абсолютно всех магазинах.
Ценник на Xbox One был выставлен следующий: 499 долларов / 499 евро / 429 фунтов. В России официальная цена пока озвучена не была, но ориентировочно это будет сумма в районе 22 990 рублей.
Начало продаж Xbox One запланировано на 22 ноября в США и некоторых странах Европы. В России новая консоль Microsoft появится лишь в 2014 году. Пока никаких подробностей на этот счёт не поступало. Известно лишь, что компания решила перенести запуск своей консоли на некоторых территориях для того, чтобы улучшить качество локализации интерфейса и голосового управления.
Где купить
В России Playstation 4 можно купить в ближайшем магазине бытовой техники уже в конце ноября этого года. Заказать консоль в европейских интернет-магазинах по деньгам выйдет примерно столько же, но вы сразу автоматически лишаетесь российской гарантии. Так что, хорошенько подумайте – стоит ли так рисковать? Если хочется получить приставку чуть раньше официального российского релиза, можно попробовать заказать её курьером из американского интернет-магазина . Но в этом случае придётся проходить процесс растаможки, платить за услуги таможенного брокера и изрядно повозиться с документами и оформлением.

Подводя итоги
Благодаря тому, что Sony застали Microsoft врасплох и представили свою консоль раньше на несколько месяцев, а также приняли несколько более смелых инженерных и маркетинговых решений, как, например, использование GDDR5-памяти или отсутствие различных ограничений, консоль Playstation 4 сейчас находится в более выгодном положении. Различные интернет-голосования демонстрируют уверенное лидерство детища компании Sony с точки зрения потенциальных покупателей: 73 % участников проголосовали за PS4 и лишь 27 % отдали свои голоса за Xbox One. Особенно удивительно видеть уверенную победу Sony на американском рынке, где Xbox 360 была «консолью номер один» на протяжении довольно продолжительного времени.
Хочется верить, что обе консоли стоят своих денег и привнесут в индустрию много новых, увлекательных, красивых и технологичных игр. В любом случае, конкуренция Sony и Microsoft лишь на руку обычным пользователям, ведь обе компании стараются изо всех сил для того, чтобы угодить нам и сделать свой продукт более привлекательным для потенциального покупателя.
