The original Wii home gaming console for the Japanese company Nintendo was incredibly successful. By June 2012, 96.56 million consoles were sold. Unfortunately for the company, the new generation of Wii U, despite a successful launch, turned out to be not as popular as it had planned. And now there are rumors on the Web that Nintendo is developing another device - a tablet that runs on the Android operating system.
Nintendo’s Nano Monterazo, an engineer at Nintendo, told the news via his Twitter page that the company is currently testing a tablet based on a modified version of the Android operating system from Google. After some time, this "tweet" was deleted.
Moterazo indicated that even though Nintendo is testing a device, this does not necessarily mean that it is going to release it. And in general, in the end, it may turn out that the gadget will be presented as a device that focuses on development programs, and not just as a regular gaming portable set-top box.
Unfortunately, the source did not indicate additional information, including, for example, the technical characteristics of the Nintendo tablet based on Android, and did not indicate on the basis of which version of Android it works and how strongly this version is modified.
If Nintendo still decides to release such a device, it is likely that it could become even more popular than the current Wii U console.
