It was quite expected that amid the lack of a new Sony game console on the market, numerous speculators would emerge from nowhere. That is exactly what happened. While the Japanese electronic giant is trying to cope with a shortage of its products by hook or by crook, some enterprising retailers and online stores are cashing in on particularly impatient buyers.

When the world first found out the price of the Playstation 4 in June 2013, many were incredibly excited. After all, $ 399 is not so much, especially considering that the previous Playstation 3 console in 2006 was selling for $ 599. The main competitor in the face of Microsoft was not able to put such an attractive price tag on the Xbox One because of the Kinect sensor included in the set-top box.

The Russian official price for the Playstation 4 was originally set at 17,990 rubles. Began accepting pre-orders in various retail networks across the country. They even went on sale special pre-order kits with a unique numbered coupon, which guarantees a 100% chance of getting a set-top box from the first batch. Many did not pay attention to this fact and, as it turned out, it was in vain.

About a month before the start of sales of the Playstation 4, the official price increased to the mark of 18,990 rubles. This price increase was due, above all, to the unstable euro currency rate, which at that time was especially “stormy”. The people who issued the pre-order in Russia sighed sadly, but took the price increase for granted.

At the start of sales in Russia, which took place on November 29, there was not such an insane rush as in some European countries. Nevertheless, the queues at large stores formed quite impressive. If we recall the beginning of sales in the same Germany, there people literally fought for gaming consoles and rushed to the store stand with consoles, knocking everything in their path. In Russian stores everything was cultural. People smiled, did not quarrel over trifles, quietly acquired a console and went home.

Other popular trading networks are trying to keep up. Here and there absolutely crazy price tags of 29,990 rubles appear, and private sellers offer to buy a console for 35-40 thousand. And because many people buy the console, despite the unreasonably high price tag.

Sony is currently actively increasing its production capacity. Only now, when it will be possible for them to cope with the shortage of their new product is still not entirely clear. One of the leaders of the Japanese company in a recent interview assured journalists that they are doing everything possible so that the prefix reappears on store shelves for the New Year holidays, but it seems that his words could not be fulfilled. When the PS4 consoles appeared on the Amazon online store for the third time this year, the entire new batch of several thousand consoles were sold out in a matter of hours.

How the situation will change in the future is difficult to predict now. When the consoles appear in free access in our stores is also unknown. But one thing is for sure: no one expected such an increased demand for consoles of the new generation. For Sony, this was the same shock as for many analysts, who, of course, predicted increased public interest in new consoles, but their predictions are no match for what kind of insanity is now happening on the market.
