Former Nokia director Stephen Elop leads Xbox division

Стивен Элоп возглавил подразделение Xbox

Despite the fact that Stephen Elop did not manage to take the post of CEO of Microsoft Corporation, his new position can still be considered a serious increase within the company.

From now on, Stephen Elop will oversee the Microsoft Devices and Studios division, which includes Xbox consoles, Surface tablets, and Microsoft internal gaming studios. Of course, Elop will still lead the development of mobile phones, which he has been working on up to this point.

Stephen Elop took over as the previous head of this unit in the person of Julia Larson-Green. Elopa wanted to appoint the head of the entertainment unit immediately after the acquisition of Nokia, but decided to wait a little, so that Julia and her charges had time to complete all the started projects. Julia herself will now begin to coordinate the work of another division of the company - Application and Services, and will carefully monitor the quality of products such as Bing, Office and Skype. We remind you that Julia took over as former director of the entertainment division, Don Mattrick, after he decided to leave Microsoft and lead Zynga on July 1, 2013.

“I would like to thank all those people who supported me throughout the seven months of work in the Devices and Studios division. I am proud of what we have been able to achieve in such a short time. We launched the Xbox One console, Surface 2 and Pro 2 tablets, Forza and Ryse blockbusters, and a lot of other innovative products, ”Julia wrote in her official address to the company's employees.

While it is difficult to imagine what the similar personnel reshuffle will lead to at Microsoft, Satya Nadella definitely decided to change something and started this right after his appointment to the post of executive director.
