For the first time in eight years, Sony has been able to circumvent a giant like Nintendo. In total, the Japanese company Sony sold 18.7 million consoles for the last fiscal year. And the important merit of this belongs to the released new game console PlayStation 4.

Sales of the Japanese company Nintendo, in turn, have recently decreased by 31 percent. The reason for this is frankly unsuccessful home game console Wii U. Over the entire existence of this console, the company has been able to sell only 16.31 million consoles. During the same reporting period, the Redmond company Microsoft sold a total of 11.6 million game consoles.

Sony is doing very well against the background of its competitors. We have already noted that the PlayStation 4 has already begun to bring profits to its creators, as the console paid off almost immediately after the start of its sales.

The last time Sony was noted as the most successful gaming console sales company was fiscal year 2005. But even then, sales of the PlayStation 3 console were less than the company itself had expected. Since then, the company has worked on its mistakes and eventually created the PlayStation 4, which, judging by the sales, now pleases not only the company itself, but also its customers.

Microsoft, in turn, does not intend to give up yet and is doing everything possible to take the lead. Recently, for example, the Redmond company began selling a new version of the Xbox One, the sale of which does not include the Kinect motion sensor. The lack of a sensor allows not only to reduce the final cost of the console (now it costs $ 400, instead of 499), but also to increase its hardware performance, since the Xbox One processor no longer needs to process additional commands from the sensor. Whether this will help the company to raise sales of its set-top box - we will find out later.

In general, on the gaming front, there are now two main titans fighting for the championship. This is Sony and Microsoft. According to analysts, Nintendo is unable to compete with these companies in the current state of affairs.
