Microsoft plans to win the love of Japanese gamers in September

Microsoft планирует завоевать любовь японских геймеров

The new Microsoft console has acquired a release date in the Japanese market. The Japanese will be able to purchase the Xbox One already on September 4th of this year.

The console will be available to the Japanese in two trim levels. The first is priced at 39,980 yen ($ 392) for the Xbox One without a Kinect sensor, and the second is priced at 49,980 yen ($ 490), respectively, with a Kinect in the box.

Not so long ago, Microsoft released a list of 48 Japanese companies that are currently developing games for the Xbox One console. In addition, the starting lineup of the console on the territory of the Land of the Rising Sun will include the already well-known Western players Ryse: Son of Rome, Forza Motorsport 5, Dead Rising 3, and later those games that only need to be released in the near future will join them. These are Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive and, of course, Halo 5: Guardians.

At the moment, on the territory of Japan, the Sony PlayStation 4 competitor console is already on sale at a price of 39,980 yen for the basic package, and for 43,980 - for the set with the PlayStation Eye camera. As modern market research shows, Japanese consumers have cooled down to home gaming consoles. They are more attracted by everything mobile, as evidenced by the boom of mobile services in Japan, as well as the frenetic popularity of the Nintendo 3DS handheld console.

Microsoft has already tried twice to grab a piece of the Japanese market, but no matter how hard American marketers tried, they didn’t have anything intelligible. Microsoft redeemed the exclusivity of some popular Japanese game series (vivid examples are Dead Rising and Crimson Dragon), paid for the development of big-budget projects of legendary developers like Hironobu Sakaguchi (the creator of the Final Fantasy series), but in spite of the high quality of games, American consoles in Japan are still perceive pretty cool.

Time will tell how successful the debut of the new Microsoft console in the Japanese market will be. The most interesting projects for it will probably be announced closer to the end of September, as part of the annual Japanese exhibition Tokyo Game Show. It remains to wait quite a bit.
