Today, Atari is just a faint reminder of what it was 30 years ago. It was thanks to Atari that video games became popular all over the world, and even Steve Jobs worked there for a while as a programmer. But after the market crisis, which occurred in 1983, the affairs of this company were getting worse and worse, until it declared its bankruptcy. Today, Atari is left with only a tiny European branch in which life still glows.
This company is primarily known for the fact that in 1977 it released one of the most popular gaming consoles Atari 2600, which sold out a fantastic circulation of 30 million boxes. Believe me, for that time it was truly incredible numbers! Of course, the games at that time were at a rather primitive level. Remember such classics as PONG, Pac-Man, Pitfall !, Breakout and many, many other famous names.
When Atari suffered a defeat on the home console market, the company decided to concentrate on producing high-quality gaming projects. One of the most famous of their games in recent years can be called Alone in the Dark and Driver. But no matter how hard the company tried to stay afloat, the market turned out to be merciless to it, and in 2013 the US division of Atari US declared itself bankrupt and separated from the European division of Atari SE
“Atari is more than just a software brand,” reflects Frederik Chesney, president of the company, during an interview for GamesBeat, “this is primarily a brand that has been producing iron for more than 30 years. We have already offered our fans the re-release of our classic consoles in the Atari Flashback series, but the company does not intend to stop there. Over the next few years, we plan to release something else. But we will succeed only if we manage to conclude contracts with the right partners. ”

“I'm not talking about the new console, but, for example, about the clock. Well, yes, imagine a sort of game watches. And no, we are not planning to create such a watch. I called them only so that you would think about something like that for at least a second. I'll give you one more thought. Here, for example, you have a jacket. This jacket has a built-in cable for recharging your smartphone, and on the surface of the jacket there are solar cells with which the jacket accumulates electricity. I think that our company is able to create not only all this, but also many more amazing things that you definitely want to buy. ”
Statements of such a plan are only further discouraged. What actually happens in the head of Frederick Chesney, and what did Atari think?
