Things are going very well with Sony's gaming unit. Launched in November 2013, the PlayStation 4 game console confidently holds the lead in the number of sales in most countries of the world, ahead of the products of its competitors Xbox One and Nintendo Wii U.
Employees of the popular Edge gaming publication in the west, citing insider information, told their readers that Sony managed to sell over 9 million PlayStation 4. In turn, Microsoft’s main competitor managed to sell about 5 million Xbox One.
During an interview with journalists, Xbox Vice President Phil Harrison, who also previously worked at Sony, shared his vision of the situation:
“We believe that at the moment the new-generation consoles have occupied less than 5% of the market space available to them, so Microsoft still has time to catch up and beat the competition.”
As for the past mistakes of the corporation, which led to not very flattering reviews of the press and users about the Xbox One, Harrison added:
"We made a lot of important conclusions for ourselves over the past year, so I assure you that Microsoft will adhere to the highest standards in the future."
At the same time, Harrison respected the achievements of Sony:
“Hats off to Sony. They really organized a great start for their new console. They had a more attractive price, and they started in more countries than we did. But now we have announced the release of the new Xbox One without Kinect at affordable prices, and in September we will start selling more in 29 regions. ”
Console wars continue and will become even more fierce for the New Year holidays at the end of this year. It was during this period that gaming platform holders generated the main profit from sales of consoles and games. And we, as consumers, can only watch from the side of competition and hope that even more profitable offers and stocks will appear on the market.
