Nintendo has introduced an updated version of the game console 3DS

Engineers from the Japanese company Nintendo did not sit idly by and presented to the gaming public a new version of their pocket console, which will now be called simply New 3DS.

The prefix, as before, will appear in two form factors: standard, as well as in the alternative XL with enlarged screens (in Japan it is called LL). Immediately it is difficult to say what the new version of the console looks different from the old one, but you just have to take a closer look - and you start to notice important changes.

The first and most important difference is the presence of a second analog stick C-Stick for more precise control of the character and the game camera in three-dimensional space. This stick is located on the right side of the console right above the ABXY buttons and surprises with its tiny size. Previously, in order to get greater control accuracy, the owners of 3DS had to buy an additional 3DS Circle Pad Pro device, which was put on the console as an external accessory. The new analog stick can be used in such projects as Dragon Quest X: Online, Final Fantasy Explorers, Monster Hunter 4G and Super Smash Bros.

ABXY buttons will be colored. Nintendo used the classic colors that were used in the development of the gamepad for the 16-bit Super Nintendo Entertainment System console in the early 90s. New colors are also reflected in the company logo of the updated consoles.

Another important change is the updated filling of the console. The new model will be equipped with an improved processor and a large amount of RAM, unfortunately, the exact figures have not been made public yet. Because of these innovations, some new games can only be launched on the new model of the console, and the owners of the old models will not be available. One of these projects will be the port of the game Xenoblade Chronicles, which was released in 2010 for the stationary console Nintendo Wii.

The screen of the updated consoles will increase slightly, as well as the size of their cases. The screen resolution will remain the same, but here the viewing angles will be significantly improved, including in stereoscopic 3D mode. Nintendo engineers have tried to do so that users do not hurt the eyes from the prolonged use of three-dimensional images.

The sound adjustment slider has moved to the top and is now located to the left of the screen. The port for game cartridges was moved to the bottom of the console. Port for microSD memory card moved to the bottom surface of the console. Two additional triggers ZR and LR were also added, so now you can run full-fledged games and ports on older consoles on 3DS, which use four trigger buttons.

Thanks to the new battery, the prefix will last an average of half an hour or longer. New chargers in the form of vertical stands will also be on sale. The cost of these devices for the two versions of the console will be 1000 and 1200 Japanese yen, which is approximately equal to 10 and 12 dollars, respectively.

As for the prices for new consoles, the smaller model will cost 16,000 yen ($ 154), and the larger one will cost 18,800 yen ($ 180). Replaceable front panels for New 3DS will also be on sale and each user will be able to change the appearance of his console at any time. Amiibo interactive figures, which were announced earlier this year, will also be compatible with the new version of the console, as it will be embedded NFC-reader.

The New 3DS console will go on sale in Japan in October of this year, but it will reach Europe and the United States no earlier than 2015.
