ESports comes on the Sony PlayStation console

Times when e-sports was the lot of solely the owners of personal computers, are in the past. From now on, owners of Sony game consoles will also be able to participate in large-scale championships and fight for valuable prizes.

E-sports are gaming competitions that take place inside a virtual space. More often sports competitions are arranged on the basis of popular video games, for example - StarCraft, World of Tanks, League of Legends, DotA and others. Russia, by the way, became the first country in the world to recognize eSports as the official sport in 2001. This recognition was officially formalized by the then head of the State Committee for Sports Pavel Rozhkov.

Modern cybersport championships and competitions are held all over the world, and their prize funds sometimes reach several million dollars, which once again proves the seriousness of these events. To this day, cybersporters have preferred only personal computers and video games for them to conduct competitions. But, probably, everything can change, since the Japanese company Sony made a very unexpected statement.

Sony has announced the creation of the Official Playstation League, within the framework of which cybersport championships will be held among participants from different countries. The League will be a special service for the PlayStation consoles, which will be completely free for PlayStation Plus subscribers. All the achievements of athletes will be attached to their PSN-account.

The first country whose inhabitants will get access to the service will be Spain. Italy and Portugal will then join it, and then the service will reach the rest of Europe, including, probably, Russia. The first games in which cybersportsmen converge will be Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts and FIFA 15, and later NBA2K15 and DRIVECLUB will join them.

Competitions will be held both in individual standings and among user teams. The selection of opponents will determine the history of the victories of each individual cybersport, tied to its PSN-account. Winners on the results of the competition will receive valuable prizes from the organizers. The first season of the competition will last until January 11, 2015.
