Sony: to date, sold more than 40 million consoles PlayStation 4

The other day the company published its latest financial report, according to which by the present moment Sony has managed to realize more than 40 million set-top boxes.

To judge whether this is a lot, 40 million sold consoles, or not enough, is difficult, because the main competitor of the company in the face of Microsoft with its prefix Xbox One is silent as a partisan and does not want yet to publish official figures. The latest rumors talked about the fact that Xbox One sold a little more than 20 million copies since the beginning of sales, but these figures are still unofficial, and therefore we can not judge the real state of affairs. Nevertheless, all points to the fact that Sony with its PlayStation 4 dominates the market for consoles of a new generation.

The analytical reports that appeared on the Net earlier this month suggest that by 2019 Sony will be able to sell 69 million of its PS4. In turn, Microsoft will be able to implement only 39 million Xbox One. If we consider that to date Sony has already sold 2/3 of the units expected in the report, the figure of 69 million does not look so very heavy.

In addition, Sony is likely to attract even more buyers, as it is expected that the company will announce later this year the so-called PlayStation 4.5, which will be a slightly updated version of the game console, but with support for 4K video. Details, as usual, so far, and they are informal, but it is expected that the updated console will be shown at the gaming exhibition E3 2016.
