In fact, that Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony are developing new gaming consoles, no one even doubted. Earlier we already told you about the Nintendo NX, which should go on sale in the spring of 2017, as well as the new PlayStation, codenamed Neo. But there was still no news from the Redmond company. It was not until yesterday, because a certain insider merged the information that Microsoft is developing two new models of its Xbox One.
This information should not be more than a rumor for the time being, but the credibility of this story is given to recently popped up documents according to which the US Federal Communications Commission approved new Xbox One models under serial numbers 1682 and 1683. The current console model is under a completely different number. This is what pushes to the very obvious conclusion: at the upcoming E3 2016 exhibition we are waiting for a lot of interesting things.
But, let's return to the last leaks. The first new console, which we should show already on E3, will be a reduced and cheaper version of the current Xbox One. This is quite a reasonable move: the evolving technologies make it possible to make the body more elegant, and iron - to make it cheaper. The updated prefix is likely to go on sale until the end of this summer (August rate). I think that it will cost around 300 dollars. But the second model of the console, which is developed by Microsoft engineers, is much more interesting in all respects.
The second console is code-named Scorpio, and the main goal of its developers will be an attempt to skip its main rival Sony in terms of the power of iron. It's no secret that the PS4 turned out to be more powerful than the Xbox One, and even when looking at sales, it becomes clear who won the current generation. According to the leak, Xbox One Scorpio is focusing on a powerful GPU, which will allow the console to achieve a performance of 6 teraflops (recall that the PlayStation Neo, according to all the same rumors, will have a capacity of 4.14 teraflops). The current model Xbox One has a peak power of 1.32 teraflops, and PS4 - 1.84 teraflops.

Another interesting detail of the leak is the fact that the new Xbox One will support the virtual reality headset Oculus Rift. Microsoft entered into an agreement with Oculus, so the new console can work with the VR-headset. This was quite expected, because the helmet Oculus Rift originally equipped with a gamepad from the Xbox One. Attentive people already then could assume that a fruitful relationship is developing between the two companies.
It's hard to imagine how much the "powerful version" of Xbox One will cost, but it's hardly about 300 dollars, because a productive GPU is not a cheap pleasure. According to the timing of the sales of the console, too, nothing is clear yet, but personally it seems to me that the rate should be made at the end of 2017. As they say, wait and see.
