Skinterface - tactile suit for virtual reality

What is it like to feel what is happening in virtual reality with your skin? The question interested the group of graduate students of the Royal Royal College of Art, so they started the business and began developing the project "Skinterface", a kind of costume that allows the user to literally feel objects from the virtual world, interacting with him with the help of tactile sensations.

"The virtual gaming experience is still very limited," says Charlotte Furet, developer of Skinterface. "Now we are severely limited only by the image and sound, but more is required for a full immersion and vivid gaming experience. Tactile sensations are not enough. "

The prototype is already ready, now its creators are actively demonstrating the development, letting everyone play an interactive sleeve, equipped with special mobile magnets that react to sounds from the game. Creating an alternating electromagnetic field, magnets and provide the user with a tactile perception of the game process.

It is still too early to draw any conclusions, but the students expect that over time they will be able to attract more attention and investments to their offspring, which will lead to the development of the mind, and who knows, maybe it will be useful not only in games, but also in medicine, for example?

Note that before the "Skinterface" there were attempts to create something similar. Moreover, many other developers are working hard on their tactile suits and gloves for virtual reality. Nevertheless, it is too early to praise one of them. They will do it, they will start selling, they will like it - then we'll see who got better.
